Butte Wildfire Debris Removal

In September of 2015, the area near San Andreas, California was affected by a wildfire later named the Butte Fire.  By the time it was contained in October, the fire had spread to over 70,000 acres. There were a total of 921 structures destroyed, including 549 homes, 368 outbuildings and 4 commercial properties.

Following the containment, SDR was selected to assist on their contract with Pacific Gas & Electric by removing fire-damaged or destroyed trees along utility lines.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Throughout the duration of this three-month debris collection and disposal project, SDR utilized:

  • 10 Mini-Excavators
  • 6 Morbark Chippers
  • 10 Skid Steers
  • 25 crews composed of over 100 workers
